- URAC Independent Review Organization (IRO) Accreditation, the gold standard for validating that KFMC is committed to a fair and impartial medical review process that benefits both patients and physicians.
- Federally designated External Quality Review Organization (EQRO), authorized to analyze and evaluate aggregate information on quality, timeliness, and access to the health care services that a managed care plan, or its contractors, furnish to Medicaid beneficiaries.
- CMS Certified QIO-Like Entity (Quality Improvement Organization), authorized, under two separate sections of Federal Medicaid law, to perform medical and utilization reviews, external quality reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- CMS Designated Network of Quality Improvement and Innovation Contractor (NQIIC), one of only 58 organizations identified to support federal quality improvement activities based on demonstrated quality improvement expertise.
Our Legacy
Since 1972, KFMC has led innovation and collaboration for the shared goal of improving health care. We envision and are actively working toward a health care system that empowers consumers and health care professionals for optimal care and safe environments. We assist health care providers in understanding and integrating quality improvement and safety initiatives into their work, and we support consumers in understanding their rights and responsibilities.
As a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, KFMC receives funding from federal and state government contracts, foundation and corporate grants, and health system projects. KFMC pursues grants and contracts that align with our mission and goals.
Headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, our staff is an amazing team of dedicated professionals with the expertise and experience that health organizations need in a trusted partner. From applied research and clinical experience to project management, data analysis and management, continuous quality improvement, HIT, coding, and health education.
