Behavior-Based Ergonomics Therapies (BBET)

October 2013

Behavior-Based Ergonomics Therapies (BBET) is a non-medication based program developed by Dr. Govind Bharwani to manage behaviors and promote engagement with individualized therapeutic activities to get ahead of resident stress caused by boredom and disengagement. There is a resource center with more than 90 tools to use to engage a resident within just a few minutes. A customized action plan is developed for each resident to aid caregivers in choosing a therapy quickly. Once engaged, residents are able to continue the therapy on their own. BBET has had dramatic results in reducing emergency medications and preventing falls. This webinar discussed how a Kansas nursing home implemented this program and their success with using this program.
