Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, Inc.(KFMC) members serve as a physician peer review mechanism. Successful peer review is performed with the support and cooperation of the medical community.

KFMC's Physician Reviewer Program provides physician sponsored, objective peer review and opportunities for related education. The program also provides other related services that contribute to high quality medical care and appropriate use of medical services.

Effective peer review is the result of years of experience. KFMC has been responsible for peer review of Medicare admissions since 1977. KFMC has received recognition for achievement as a Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

KFMC has gained significant experience with the Medicaid program and has worked with the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services since 1982. KFMC is currently responsible for reviewing admissions under this program.

KFMC has also entered into agreements with private sector clients and has gained valuable experience in administering private peer review services.
