Angie Barnett, MBA, BS in Health Services, Organization & Policy. Angie has 3 years as a pharmaceutical sales rep, 3 years as a consultant for Hospice Services, 3 years as an office manager for a general surgeon. She was 5 years in the United States Air Force as firefighter. She attained her MBA from Webster University and her BS from Wichita State.

Dan Elliott has over 15 years experience in the IT field. He has over 10 years experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center and Public Health Department. Dan is very familiar with the technology issues and needs in the safety net environment. He has experience in project management, budget development and management, EMR software, dental software, dental imaging and network design and management. Dan has served as a HIPAA Security Officer and is well versed in security policy and procedures.

Angela Handke, RHIA, has worked as Medical Records Director in a Federally Qualified Health Center in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from
University of Kansas in Health Information Management and is certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Trisha Harkness spent more than 7 years in the legal field before transitioning to the information technology (IT) field full-time. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix in Kansas City, Missouri. Trisha spent 3 years in healthcare IT as the Network Administrator of a critical access hospital (CAH) and its associated rural health clinic (RHC). She has experience with customer service, wired and wireless network infrastructure, electronic health record (EHR) utilization improvement, server maintenance, form automation, data mining, HIPAA privacy and security, quality assurance and improvement, and staff training and education. Additionally, Trisha has more than 3 years of experience with eMDs and Crystal Reports. She also serves as an adjunct professor for Garden City Community College.

Karlen Haury, MBA brings 20+ years of experience in physician office management and consulting to the HITREC Team.  Throughout her career, she has worked predominantly with small to mid-size practices and has expertise in the turnaround of unprofitable practices and departments.  Her experience includes practice assessment; operational benchmarking; workflow analysis; coding, revenue and expense analysis; grant writing and award administration; regulatory compliance; contract negotiation; human resource management; and project management which includes several computer conversions.  She completed her Bachelor and Masters in Business Administration at Baker University.

Mary Monasmith, RHIA received her degree from KU and has over 20 years of experience with health information management and at least 15 years of experience with various software vendors on testing, training and implementation of electronic health record systems.  She has prior experience working in very small critical access hospitals, nursing homes and larger acute care facilities. She has extensive experience working with vendors to interface systems and has a strong interest in data driven templates, voice recognition and patient portal capabilities. She feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with physician offices in this capacity knowing that it can improve the quality of health care provided to so many individuals.

Erin Patrick, RHIA, has over 8 years of experience working in healthcare settings. Earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in Health Information Administration and a Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University in Human
Resource Management, Erin began her career as a Solutions Consultant for Cerner Corporation. She then moved into a management role as Supervisor of Data Quality at a Regional Health Center and then as a Director of Health Information Management and HIPAA Privacy Officer in a small Community Hospital. She has experience in vendor selection, workflow design, build, and implementation as well as human resource management, medical records functions, and HIPAA Privacy and Security.
