Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center

REC

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 includes financial incentives for healthcare providers that attain Meaningful Use (MU) with their Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. As part of the ARRA, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act authorized the formation of HIT Regional Extension Centers (RECs). These centers will support physician practices in adopting EHR systems and using their current systems to achieve meaningful use.

Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, Inc. (KFMC) is the federally designated HITREC for the state of Kansas. KFMC has long been an organization that healthcare providers and patients trust. Since 1972, KFMC has served as the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Kansas, working with healthcare providers, government, stakeholders, and consumers to improve the quality, efficiency, and outcomes for healthcare consumers. Together, we will Accelerate Health Information Technology (a-HIT) in Kansas!
KFMC’s services are designed to take your organization from its current state – whether you are starting with a paper-based system or just need to optimize your current EHR – to MU in order to qualify for the Medicare or Medicaid Incentives.

Our Mission

Accelerate the adoption and meaningful use of certified EHR technology among Kansas providers, working with at least 1,200 providers in the first two years of the program.
