Nursing Homes
A leader in healthcare quality improvement in KS hospitals and physician offices for 30 years now, KFMC began work with nursing home providers in 2002. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), has funded KFMC to work directly with nursing homes to improve care for Medicare consumers. This work helps to improve the quality of care and quality of life for those who live and work in KS nursing homes.
Our work with KS nursing homes assists nursing home staff with improving care processes on the clinical quality measures. Nursing homes who have committed to working with KFMC over the past five years have made significant progress in reducing quality measure rates.
Additionally, KFMC works to help nursing homes change their cultures from that of an institution to one of a home environment. This shift in organizational structure becomes one where people who live in nursing homes exercise control and autonomy over their own lives and care experiences as much as possible. Changes are made that effect workplace practices, care practices and living environments.
KFMC also assists in raising public awareness of the availability of the nursing home quality measures, helping healthcare professionals and consumers to understand and use the data available when making choices regarding choosing a nursing home.
