Improvement in Urinary Incontinence
Improvement in the urinary incontinence outcome is demonstrated by an increase in the percentage of patients who were previously incontinent of urine and are now continent or have fewer incidents of incontinence. Higher percentages are better. Urinary incontinence can severely limit the mobility of the patient due to the risk of embarrassment from the leakage of urine. Urinary incontinence may result from multiple causes, including physiologic reasons, cognitive impairments, or mobility problems. The home health provider determines if the patient is having difficulty controlling their urine and will offer interventions to improve this problem. They will also assess if a patient is embarrassed about needing to wear a pad so as not to wet clothing.
