Pressure Ulcer Collaborative Kick-Off

October 2008

Education is the key to a proactive pressure ulcer program of prevention and timely, appropriate interventions. Understanding the mechanisms behind pressure ulcer formation, identifying at-risk and high-risk residents, conducting thorough skin and risk assessment will assist in the development of a comprehensive care plan with consideration of all factors contributing to and affecting the ulcer and the resident. This education program has been developed to assist healthcare providers in long term care facilities to meet the challenges faced in preventing, managing, and healing pressure ulcers.
