Paving the Road to Patient Safety in Kansas!

National Patient Safety Awareness Week – March 6 – 12, 2011

National Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 6 -12, 2011 is designated by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) to encourage proponents of patient safety to raise awareness about the importance of upholding high patient safety standards in healthcare facilities.

This year, Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, Inc. (KFMC) invited Kansas providers to show their spirit by “Paving the road for patient safety in Kansas!” We invited Kansas Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Physician Offices and Home Health Agencies to get involved in this very important week by producing a 2-3 minute video promoting patient safety within their organization.  All entries were judged by a panel of Kansas stakeholders and KFMC staff.  We are pleased to announce that Kearny County Hospital, Lakin, KS, “Save a Patient, Don’t be Careless” is this year’s Film of the Year.  They will receive $500 toward an educational intervention of their choice to assist them in enhancing patient safety.

Listed below are the submissions received by KFMC.  We are excited to announce that due to the quality of responses we received, we plan to repeat this contest next year during National Patient Safety Week.
