Paving the Road to Patient Safety in Kansas - Take 2!

National Patient Safety Awareness Week – March 4 – 10, 2012

National Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 4-10, 2012 is designated by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) to encourage proponents of patient safety to raise awareness about the importance of upholding high patient safety standards in healthcare facilities.

For the second year, Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, Inc. (KFMC) invited Kansas providers to show their spirit by “Paving the road for patient safety in Kansas – Take 2!” We invited Kansas Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Physician Offices and Home Health Agencies to get involved in this very important week by producing a 2-5 minute video or a short-90 second clip promoting patient safety within their organization.

All entries were judged by a panel of Kansas stakeholders and KFMC staff.  We are pleased to announce that The University of Kansas Hospital, (Kansas City, Kansas) “These Hands are Made for Washing” is this year’s film of the year.  Shawnee Mission Medical Center (Shawnee Mission, Kansas) was a close second with "Batman and Robin:  The Case of the Clostridium Difficile, the Precarious Patient Predicament”.   The University of Kansas Hospital will receive $300 for first place and Shawnee Mission will receive $200 for second place.

Listed below are the submissions KFMC received for the contest.  Please watch for details coming this in Fall 2012 for the 2013 Patient Safety Video Contest.
